MAYA GUICE
FOUNDER, CREATIVE DIRECTOR
A Los Angeles native, I am a firm believer that with a little time, tenacity, and imagination, anything is possible. Call me a generalist—or an octopus—I’m a multidisciplinary creator and I like to build things. Over the past 15 years, I’ve worked in a number of industries, ranging from the performing arts to real estate, and now communications and design. While the industries and job titles may be at odds, each position I’ve held has required that I sit at the intersection of teams and people, using research and analytics to inform strategy, problem-solve, and either build bridges or reinforce them.
As Founder and Creative Director of Panakin Studios, I support creative entrepreneurs as they launch products, scale companies, and publish their ideas. Panakin is a word I made up to embody the spirit of creative urgency—an ethos that I share with anyone eager to change the status quo.
I’m often asked to host events, give talks or moderate panels. I’ve had the pleasure of speaking conferences like SXSW (2025), Content Marketing World (2024), SEGD Sports + Entertainment (2024), LDI (2023/2024), and the World Experience Summit (2023/2024), and other events.
Prior to launching Panakin, I worked at BRC Imagination Arts, a global experience design and production company that partners with brands like Diageo, Ford, The Las Vegas Raiders, and NASA to translate brand and cultural stories into transformative, human experiences. As Director of Strategy, I co-developed and managed the short and long-term marketing, positioning, and business strategy for the firm, including all brand and growth-related activities encompassing content, PR, events, awards, and strategic partnerships. I was also producer, writer, and host of ‘Masters of Storytelling,’ BRC’s podcast featuring conversations with storytellers from across the creative spectrum. In 2024 the show won multiple Signal Awards for Best Host and Best Writing.
In 2016, I received an M.B.A. from the Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University, where I now serve as Vice-Chair on the Advisory Board of Directors. Shortly after graduating, I moved to Berlin, where (among many things) I fell into a niche as a brand and business strategist working with creative agencies and production companies. While there, I consulted for the Ayzenberg Group, BLKBX Creative Group, and artist Simone Serlenga, before taking on a role leading english-speaking communications for Japanese design company, Goodpatch. I also spent time at the Berlin School of Business and Innovation, where I taught courses including Introduction to Business Administration and Research Methodologies to undergraduate and graduate business students.
After a rewarding, albeit short, professional dance career - the highlight of which was a month-long trip through Africa as a US Department of State Cultural Ambassador - I have remained a loyal advocate and staunch supporter of the arts. Oh! BTW, I really like taking photographs. Check out my self-portraits, pictures of other people, and landscape views.
